BALINEWSID.COM, DENPASAR — The Bali Regional Office of Perum BULOG conducted direct market monitoring in Denpasar on Saturday to ensure adequate rice supplies and maintain price stability amid public demand for staple food. September 5, 2026.

The monitoring was led by Simon Melkisedek Lakapu, Head of the Bali Regional Office of Perum BULOG, who visited two SP2KP markets in Bali Province, Nyanggelan Market and Kreneng Market.

The inspection focused on rice availability, market prices, and the distribution of Stabilization of Food Supply and Prices (SPHP) rice to consumers.

The market monitoring was part of a nationwide initiative conducted simultaneously by BULOG offices across Indonesia. Before conducting the field inspection, BULOG officials participated in a national coordination meeting via video conference led by BULOG President Director Lieutenant General (Ret.) Dr. Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani, together with National Food Agency Director for SPHP Maino Dwi Hartono and BULOG regional and branch office heads.

Simon said direct monitoring was important to obtain an accurate picture of conditions in the market and ensure that government interventions through BULOG were implemented effectively.

“We are conducting direct market monitoring to ensure that rice supplies remain secure, SPHP distribution runs smoothly, and rice prices at the consumer level remain controlled and affordable,” Simon said.

During the visits to Nyanggelan and Kreneng markets, BULOG officials spoke with traders and checked rice stocks and price developments. The monitoring also aimed to ensure that SPHP rice was distributed properly and remained accessible to consumers in accordance with applicable price regulations.

According to data from the Bali Regional Office of BULOG, government rice reserve stocks stood at 7,657 tons as of September 4, 2026. Meanwhile, the distribution of SPHP rice in Bali had reached 7,208 tons.

BULOG said the available government rice reserves provide sufficient room to continue supply and price stabilization measures, including SPHP distribution and market interventions if necessary.

The direct market inspections are also intended as a preventive measure against potential fluctuations in food prices and supply. BULOG Bali continues to coordinate with the National Food Agency, local governments, the Food Task Force, the Indonesian Military, the National Police, market managers, and other stakeholders.

Through strengthened government rice reserves, accelerated SPHP distribution, and continuous market monitoring, BULOG Bali said it remains committed to supporting government efforts to maintain food security and ensure that people have access to adequate rice supplies at reasonable prices.
