BALINEWSID.COM, BADUNG — Immigration services and inspections at the Immigration Checkpoint (TPI) of I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali remained normal, safe and orderly on Sunday (Sept. 6), despite disruptions to flight operations in several areas following the eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau in Lampung Province.

The Ngurah Rai Immigration Office said immigration checks at both the international arrivals and departures terminals continued as usual, with no direct operational disruption affecting immigration services at the airport.

However, the emergency conditions caused by the eruption affected one international flight to and from Ngurah Rai Airport, namely Citilink flight QG500 on the Denpasar (DPS)-Dili (DIL) route, carrying 94 passengers.

The flight was cancelled after the aircraft scheduled to operate the route was unable to depart from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Cengkareng due to the impact of the eruption.

In response, Ngurah Rai Immigration adjusted the travel records of all 94 affected passengers in its immigration processing system to ensure that administrative records reflected the actual flight status.

Immigration officers also checked the residence permit status of all affected passengers. As of the latest report, none of the passengers had incurred an overstay as a result of the flight cancellation.

Head of the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office Muhamad Novyandri said the agency was prioritizing immigration service certainty for passengers affected by circumstances beyond their control.

“We understand that this situation may cause concern, particularly for passengers affected by flight cancellations. Therefore, we immediately made the necessary adjustments to ensure that no passengers suffer administrative disadvantages due to circumstances beyond their control,” Novyandri said.

Ngurah Rai Immigration has also intensified monitoring of all international flights, including arrivals and departures, with particular attention to possible delays, cancellations and flight diversions.

Based on the latest confirmation from aviation authorities, no other international flight operations at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport had been directly affected by the situation at the time of the report.

The measures are part of the implementation of a directive issued by the Directorate General of Immigration through Letter No. IMI.8-GR.09.06-045, dated Sept. 2, 2026, concerning the optimization of immigration inspections during emergency conditions.

The directive calls for intensified monitoring of international flight activities and airport operating conditions.

The Ngurah Rai Immigration Office said it would continue monitoring developments and ensure that immigration inspection services remain a priority while maintaining security, public order and legal certainty amid ongoing changes in flight operations.
