Klungkung Tightens Foreigners Oversight as East Bali Sees Rising Activity

Klungkung Immigration Office Holds TIM PORA Coordination Meeting

BALINEWSIDCOM, KLUNGKUNG – The Klungkung Class III Non-TPI Immigration Office has stepped up coordination among government agencies to strengthen oversight of foreign nationals amid growing foreign-related activities in the eastern part of Bali.

The move was discussed during the 2026 Coordination Meeting of the Klungkung Foreigners Monitoring Team (TIM PORA), held at Taman Alit, Dian’s Garden, Klungkung, Bali, on Friday (Sept. 18).

The meeting brought together representatives from the Klungkung administration, Indonesian Military (TNI), National Police, law enforcement agencies, intelligence units and other relevant institutions.

The forum served as a platform for exchanging information on the presence and activities of foreign nationals across Klungkung, as well as coordinating follow-up measures based on the respective authority of each institution.

Acting Head of the Klungkung Class III Non-TPI Immigration Office Putu Suhendra Tresnadita said monitoring foreign nationals could not be handled by a single institution.

“Foreigners monitoring cannot be carried out by one institution alone. It requires synergy and collaboration among all TIM PORA members in accordance with their respective duties and authorities,” Suhendra said.

He also called for stronger communication and coordination at the subdistrict and village levels, stressing that even minor information gathered in the field could become significant if reported and followed up quickly and accurately.

Meanwhile, Head of Immigration Supervision and Enforcement at the Bali Regional Office of the Directorate General of Immigration, Bagus Aditya Nugraha Suharyono, said the increasing activities of foreign nationals in eastern Bali, including Klungkung, required more intensive and integrated supervision.

“The development of villas, accommodation facilities and various business activities in Klungkung shows the dynamics of foreign nationals’ activities that require our collective attention,” Bagus said.

He added that the presence of the Klungkung Immigration Office played a strategic role in strengthening early detection of potential immigration-related problems.

During the discussion session, the Klungkung Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services Agency (DPMPTSP) raised developments involving dive operators in Nusa Penida. The agency also shared information regarding alleged nominee practices involving foreign investment companies using the names of local Indonesian citizens.

The Klungkung District Attorney’s Office, meanwhile, reported on a British national who is undergoing an investigation in connection with an alleged theft case and is currently being held at Klungkung State Detention Center.

The prosecutors also called for stronger coordination with immigration authorities, including through a planned cooperation agreement, or Perjanjian Kerja Sama (PKS).

Other information concerning foreign nationals in Klungkung was presented by the Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) and the Klungkung National Narcotics Agency (BNN).

Representatives of the Indonesian Military’s Strategic Intelligence Agency (BAIS TNI) and the Klungkung Police Intelligence Unit also contributed information and input during the meeting.

The various findings and information presented at the meeting will serve as the basis for coordination and follow-up measures by the relevant agencies according to their respective duties and legal authorities.

The coordination is expected to strengthen a more integrated, responsive, risk-based and humane system for monitoring foreign nationals while supporting security and public order in Klungkung.
