BALINEWSID.COM, WEST SUMATRA – Road connectivity in West Sumatra is gradually returning to normal after PT Hutama Karya Infrastruktur (HKI) completed emergency repairs along the Lembah Anai and Malalak routes, both of which were previously disrupted by landslides and flooding.

The Lembah Anai route was officially reopened to all types of vehicles on Monday (July 27, 2026), while the Malalak route had already been reopened in March 2026.

The reopening of the two routes marks an important step in restoring interregional connectivity and supporting public mobility, transportation and logistics distribution across West Sumatra.

HKI Corporate Secretary Resnu Aditya Wuladarman said the completion of the disaster-response works demonstrated the company’s commitment to restoring infrastructure and public mobility following the disasters.

“HKI has completed the disaster-response works in Lembah Anai and Malalak properly and in accordance with established standards, allowing both routes to be used again by the public,” Resnu said.

He said the Lembah Anai and Malalak routes are vital transportation corridors supporting community mobility and the distribution of goods and logistics in West Sumatra.

During the recovery process, HKI handled several locations in Lembah Anai and Malalak that were affected by landslides and flooding. The work was carried out in accordance with quality and safety standards, while construction methods were adjusted to the challenging geographical conditions and relatively high risks in the areas.

The completion of the work was supported by the Ministry of Public Works, PT Hutama Karya (Persero), and other relevant stakeholders.

Intensive coordination between central and regional authorities, along with support from communities living around the project sites, helped facilitate the work from preparation through completion and contributed to the acceleration of access restoration.

With both routes now operational, private vehicles, public transportation and logistics vehicles can once again travel through several areas of West Sumatra that had previously experienced access disruptions.

The restoration of road access is also expected to help revive social and economic activities that were affected by the disasters.

Despite the reopening of the routes, motorists are urged to remain cautious, comply with traffic signs and regulations, and adjust their speed to prevailing road conditions.

Operators of freight vehicles are also required to comply with regulations governing vehicle dimensions and cargo loads to maintain road safety and protect the condition of the restored infrastructure.

Resnu said the post-disaster recovery efforts along the Lembah Anai and Malalak routes were in line with President Prabowo Subianto’s Asta Cita priorities, particularly efforts to strengthen connectivity, promote more balanced development and support regional economic growth.

“HKI hopes the reopening of these two routes will improve public mobility, facilitate the distribution of goods and logistics, and support the recovery of social and economic activities in West Sumatra,” Resnu said.
