BALINEWSID.COM, PEKANBARU – PT Hutama Karya (Persero) continues to improve safety and comfort for motorists using the Pekanbaru-Dumai section of the Trans Sumatra Toll Road (JTTS). Routine maintenance and monitoring are being carried out to ensure the toll road remains safe, smooth, and meets service standards.
The 131.5-kilometer Pekanbaru-Dumai Toll Road, which connects Pekanbaru City and Dumai, has received positive responses from motorists who appreciate the quality of the infrastructure and supporting facilities along the route.
However, some drivers said several sections still require quality improvements, particularly due to heavy truck traffic that has affected road conditions in certain areas.
“I traveled on the Pekanbaru-Dumai Toll Road for the first time. Overall, the toll road infrastructure is good, but some improvements are still needed. Perhaps because many trucks pass through this route, there are several points where the road surface has become uneven,” said Amin Hadian, a resident of Ujung Gading, West Sumatra.
Amin also praised the facilities available at the rest area located at KM 45 in Kandis, Siak Regency. According to him, the facility provides important support for long-distance travelers with food outlets, a mosque, and resting areas.
“The facilities here are very complete. There are food stalls, a mosque, and resting areas for drivers who need to take a break before continuing their journey,” he said.
Meanwhile, Sardi, a resident of Medan, North Sumatra, who has traveled on the Pekanbaru-Dumai Toll Road more than five times, expressed his satisfaction with the toll road’s condition.
“I have traveled back and forth on this toll road more than five times. Besides shortening travel time between Medan and Dumai, the road condition is also good and smooth. The rest areas are very helpful, especially for travelers who need to rest or perform prayers during long journeys,” Sardi said.
To maintain and improve service quality, Hutama Karya’s Central Sumatra Regional Division continues to conduct regular inspections and evaluations of the Pekanbaru-Dumai Toll Road.
Hutama Karya is currently carrying out flexible pavement maintenance work on both directions of the toll road. The maintenance is being conducted on Lane A from the Pekanbaru Toll Gate toward Dumai and Lane B from Dumai toward Pekanbaru as part of the company’s routine maintenance and service improvement program.
The maintenance points include:
- KM 2+050 to KM 2+150, Lane 1, Lane A
- KM 2+150 to KM 2+245, Lane 1, Lane A
- KM 24+400 to KM 24+260, Lane 1, Lane B
- KM 24+260 to KM 24+100, Lane 1, Lane B
Hutama Karya representative Untung apologized for any inconvenience that may occur during the maintenance process.
“This maintenance work is carried out to ensure that road conditions remain safe, comfortable, and meet service standards, allowing road users to enjoy a better journey in the future,” Untung said.
During the maintenance process, Hutama Karya has prepared safety measures, including work zone protection, warning signs, and field personnel to help manage traffic flow and minimize travel disruptions.
He added that repairs are prioritized based on regular field inspections and evaluations. Sections requiring immediate attention, especially areas that could affect user safety and comfort, will be handled as a priority.
“Through continuous monitoring and maintenance, Hutama Karya is committed to providing a safe and comfortable driving experience for all users of the Pekanbaru-Dumai Toll Road,” he concluded.
