BULOG Bali Brings Students Inside Warehouses to Explore National Food System

BALINEWSID.COM, TABANAN — Indonesia’s state logistics agency, Perum BULOG Regional Office Bali, launched an educational tourism program at the Kediri I Warehouse Complex in Tabanan, inviting students from SMA Surya Wisata Tabanan to directly observe the country’s food security system.

The program was officially opened by Regional Head Muhamad Anwar, who emphasized the importance of involving younger generations in sustaining national food resilience. He said hands-on learning in the field is an effective way to help students understand BULOG’s strategic role.

“Through this activity, we want to encourage young people to better understand BULOG’s role in maintaining food availability and price stability nationwide,” he said.

During the session, Marketing Manager Dwi Nurafandi delivered detailed material on how BULOG absorbs agricultural products from farmers and manages the national rice stock. Students were guided through the rice distribution chain, from procurement and warehouse storage to quality maintenance to ensure commodities remain fit for consumption.

Participants were also introduced to BULOG’s staple food products, including rice, sugar, and cooking oil. The session highlighted the agency’s three main pillars: availability, affordability, and price stability as the foundation of national food security.

One student participant, Ni Kadek Theya Vratiwi, said the program provided valuable insight into the importance of food logistics systems.

“This activity is very useful. We now better understand the process of rice from the beginning until it is ready for distribution, as well as the importance of maintaining food security,” she said.

Through the program, BULOG Bali aims to raise awareness among young people about the food sector while strengthening their understanding of the institution’s strategic role in safeguarding national food stability.
