The victim was identified as Geoffrey Kenneth Alford (70), born on August 2, 1955, and holding passport number RA4888432. He was registered as a guest staying in room number 8382 at Hotel Sanur Resort Watu Jimbar, located on Jalan Danau Tamblingan, Sanur.

The incident came to light at approximately 6:30 PM local time after hotel staff received a report that the victim had not responded to calls since the morning. A front office staff member, I Komang Widnyana, said he was alerted by the victim’s acquaintance, who requested a welfare check.

“I tried calling the room, but there was no answer. When I went to the room and knocked on the door, there was still no response,” Widnyana stated.

Due to the lack of response, hotel staff and security attempted to open the room using a master key. However, the door was locked from the inside with a double lock, prompting them to call a technician to forcibly open it.

Once the door was opened, the victim was found lying on the bed with his eyes open and his body covered by a blanket. Attempts to wake him were unsuccessful.

Hotel security immediately reported the incident to management, who then contacted the police.

A crime scene investigation conducted by the Denpasar Police Forensic Identification Unit (Inafis) found no signs of violence on the victim’s body. He was discovered lying with his head facing west, slightly tilted to the left, both hands resting on his chest, and legs straight. He was wearing only black shorts and no shirt.

Authorities also secured several medications at the scene, including an inhaler, Lyrica, Calcium Lactate, Meloxicam, Endone, Panamex, Nettoblastin, and Prodine.

“Based on the initial examination, there are no indications of violence. The preliminary assumption is that the victim died due to illness,” police said in a statement.

The Inafis team arrived at the scene at around 7:30 PM local time. The body was later evacuated at approximately 8:15 PM by a Denpasar Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) ambulance to Prof. Dr. I.G.N.G. Ngoerah General Hospital (Sanglah Hospital) for further examination.

Police have installed a police line at the scene and are continuing their investigation to determine the exact cause of death.
