BALINEWSID.COM, DENPASAR — Amid ongoing fuel shortages that have led to long queues at gas stations in several regions, activities involving executives of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga in Bali have come under scrutiny. A field investigation uncovered an exclusive agenda that appears to contradict the government’s push for strict budget efficiency.

Observations at a padel venue in Munggu, Mengwi District, Badung Regency, on Saturday (April 11) showed the facility was fully booked from morning until late afternoon. The event was held behind closed doors, involving several internal company officials and business partners.

The series of activities reportedly began the previous evening, Friday (April 10), when dozens of fuel agents and partners from Kalimantan arrived in Bali. They attended a private dinner at a restaurant in the Tibubeneng area, North Kuta.

These findings are supported by internal documents obtained from a whistleblower source. The documents include an official invitation titled “2025 Kalimantan Agent Performance Evaluation,” indicating that the event was organized by PT Pertamina Patra Niaga.

However, on-site findings suggest a shift in the substance of the event. What was expected to focus on performance evaluation was instead dominated by non-formal activities, including padel games and exclusive gatherings.

The investigation also noted the presence of Oos Kosasih, who serves as Vice President of Industrial & Marine Fuel Business. His attendance reinforces that the event was part of an agenda involving the company’s internal structure.

This situation stands in stark contrast to conditions in various regions, where the public continues to face fuel shortages and long queues. The government, through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, has previously instructed all state-owned enterprises to implement strict budget efficiency measures, including limiting non-essential activities.

Furthermore, the investigation found that the Bali event was conducted in an exclusive format, with a fully funded scheme for participants—raising questions about the company’s budget allocation priorities.

These findings highlight a disconnect between the government’s efficiency policies and their implementation at the operational level. As a subholding with a critical role in national energy distribution, PT Pertamina Patra Niaga now faces increased scrutiny over its budget governance and its sensitivity to public hardship amid ongoing fuel supply challenges.
