WITF 2026 Targets 34 Countries, Bringing 100 International Buyers Together with Indonesia’s Tourism Industry

BALINEWSID.COM, JAKARTA — Indonesia’s Ministry of Tourism, in collaboration with the Indonesian Tourism Industry Association (GIPI) and the Jakarta Provincial Government, will once again host the Wonderful Indonesia Tourism Fair (WITF) from October 15 to 17, 2026, at the Grand Ballroom of JIExpo Kemayoran in Jakarta.

Entering its third year, WITF 2026 aims to expand access for Indonesian tourism products to international markets through a business-to-business (B2B) platform. The event is expected to bring together Indonesian tourism industry players with more than 100 international buyers from 34 countries.

In addition to international buyers, WITF 2026 will host more than 200 buyers from national companies. The participants will take part in a series of business-matching sessions designed to create business opportunities, both to attract international tourists and to encourage domestic travel.

Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana said strengthening promotion and expanding market access are important to sustaining Indonesia’s tourism growth amid changes in the global tourism landscape.

“Strengthening promotion and expanding market access are important parts of maintaining the growth of Indonesia’s tourism sector,” Widiyanti said during a press conference for WITF 2026 in Jakarta on Wednesday (Sept. 23, 2026).

She said B2B forums such as WITF provide tourism industry players with opportunities to engage directly with buyers, understand market demand, and introduce Indonesia’s diverse destinations and tourism products to international markets.

The Ministry of Tourism will also facilitate a dedicated Wonderful Indonesia booth for domestic tourism businesses. Participants will include tourism villages, travel agents, wellness businesses, theme parks and educational tourism operators.

The businesses will showcase and promote their leading tourism products and travel packages to buyers and visitors throughout the fair.

WITF 2026 will also feature dozens of exhibitors representing various segments of Indonesia’s tourism industry, including tour operators, travel agents, hotels, transportation companies, airlines, passenger rail services, tourism villages, liveaboards, theme parks, restaurants, wellness providers and other tourism-related businesses.

GIPI Chairman Hariyadi Sukamdani said Jakarta has a strategic role as a gateway and hub for Indonesia’s tourism sector.

“Through WITF in Jakarta, destinations and tourism industry players from across Indonesia can meet directly with international markets,” Hariyadi said.

The event is being held amid global geopolitical uncertainty throughout 2026, which organizers say has underscored the need for the tourism industry to maintain promotional activities and business relationships with international markets.

WITF 2026 Steering Committee Chairman Budi Tirtawisata said geopolitical and economic conditions, connectivity and perceptions of destination safety could affect travel patterns and buyers’ decisions.

“In challenging global conditions, the industry cannot afford to stop moving. We need to continue opening up markets, building relationships with buyers, understanding changing traveler needs, and ensuring that Indonesian tourism products remain relevant and competitive,” Budi said.

WITF 2026 carries the theme “Beyond Borders: Shaping the Future of Indonesian Tourism.” Organizers aim to develop the event into a world-class B2B tourism trade show that connects Indonesia’s tourism supply with global market demand.

In addition to hosting international buyers, the Ministry of Tourism is supporting a familiarization trip (Fam Trip) program for potential buyers from several countries. The buyers will visit selected destinations in Indonesia before taking part in business-matching sessions at WITF 2026.

WITF 2026 is also part of the “Towards Jakarta’s 500th Anniversary” series of events and reflects efforts to strengthen the capital’s role as a meeting point between global markets and tourism destinations and products from across Indonesia.
