Ngurah Rai Immigration Foils Escape Attempt of Three Chinese Nationals Linked to Bogor Theft Case

BALINEWSID.COM, BADUNG – Officers from the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office apprehended three Chinese nationals at the Immigration Checkpoint of I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport on Saturday (May 2, 2026), as they attempted to flee the country. The suspects are believed to be involved in an aggravated theft case in Bogor.

The three individuals, identified by their initials J.W. (33), R.W. (37), and H.L. (39), were in Indonesia under Visit Stay Permits (Visa on Arrival).

They were detained while preparing to board an AirAsia flight QZ550 bound for Kuala Lumpur. Immigration officers grew suspicious during departure checks and conducted further verification, which revealed that the trio had been listed in a police report filed by Bogor City Police over an alleged aggravated theft.

The crime reportedly took place on Sunday, March 22, 2026, at around 8:45 p.m. local time. The suspects are accused of breaking into a luxury residence owned by a victim identified as Susanto, located in Bogor, while the house was unoccupied. The homeowner had been traveling to China since March 18.

During the burglary, the perpetrators allegedly wore masks resembling a footballer’s face and black gloves to conceal their identities.

At approximately 7:00 a.m. local time, immigration officials formally postponed the departure of the suspects. They were subsequently handed over to police authorities at the airport police station for further legal proceedings.

Head of the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office, Bugie Kurniawan, emphasized that the arrest demonstrates strict monitoring at Indonesia’s entry and exit points.

“This operation proves that Ngurah Rai Airport cannot be used as an escape route from the law. We will continue to strengthen coordination with law enforcement agencies to ensure all offenders are held accountable,” he said.
