BALINEWSID.COM, DENPASAR – The Class I Special Immigration Office at Ngurah Rai International Airport has once again demonstrated its commitment to safeguarding Indonesia’s borders by detaining a British national listed on Interpol’s Red Notice.
Head of the Bali Regional Office of the Directorate General of Immigration, Felucia Sengky Ratna, explained that immigration authorities are only able to identify individuals based on the passport used upon entry into Indonesia.
“The individual is indeed a British national. However, if the person holds passports from other countries, it cannot be immediately detected. Upon entering Indonesia through Ngurah Rai Airport, he used a British passport,” she said.
After being identified as having a Red Notice record issued by the National Central Bureau (NCB) of Interpol, immigration officers promptly carried out security measures in accordance with established procedures.
Felucia emphasized that immigration authorities are obligated to immediately hand over such individuals to law enforcement agencies.
“Once secured and confirmed to be on Interpol’s Red Notice, we directly handed the individual over to the police for further handling,” she stated.
She added that immigration security teams in Bali are equipped with adequate technical capabilities to monitor and enforce immigration regulations effectively.
“Our security team has been equipped with comprehensive security techniques,” she said.
In addition, immigration surveillance systems are strengthened through the use of advanced technology and international cooperation, including coordination with Interpol and collaboration among domestic agencies.
“System-wise, we are supported by technology through an integrated hit system in cooperation with Interpol, as well as inter-agency collaboration,” Felucia added.
This measure is part of the government’s broader effort to ensure that Bali does not become a safe haven for international criminals while maintaining national security.
