Newborn Baby Found Alive in Denpasar, Police Investigate Abandonment Case

BALINEWSID.COM, DENPASAR – Residents of West Denpasar, Bali, were shocked by the discovery of a newborn baby girl who was found alive on Jalan Imam Bonjol, Gang Penataran Sari, Banjar Pekandelan, Pemecutan Klod Village, West Denpasar District, on Friday (June 12, 2026) at around 11:45 a.m. local time.

The incident, which quickly went viral on social media, drew widespread public attention. The baby girl was discovered wrapped inside a purple shopping bag that had been left on the roadside.

According to information gathered at the scene, the infant appeared to have been born only recently, as her skin was still reddish. Residents were further alarmed to find that the baby’s mouth had been covered with adhesive tape. Despite the condition in which she was found, the baby was still alive and showing signs of life.

The residents who first discovered the infant immediately provided assistance. They carried the baby to a nearby stall and wrapped her in cloth to keep her warm while waiting for authorities to arrive.

Shortly afterward, officers from the West Denpasar Police Sector (Polsek Denpasar Barat) reached the location and, together with local residents, transported the baby to a clinic for medical treatment and examination.

Initial medical assessments confirmed that the baby girl was alive and in good health. Medical personnel also reported that no injuries or abrasions were found on her body.

The Head of Public Relations of the Denpasar City Police, IPTU I Gede Adi Saputra Jaya, confirmed the incident.

“The baby is currently in good condition and has received medical treatment. We appreciate the swift response and concern shown by local residents, whose actions helped ensure the baby’s safety,” he said.
