Massive Fire Destroys Furniture Warehouse and 19 Workers’ Dorm Rooms in West Denpasar, One Injured

BALINEWSID.COM, DENPASAR — A massive fire tore through a furniture raw materials warehouse and workers’ dormitory owned by CV. Faradiba Furniture on Jalan Kebo Iwa Utara, Gang Batu Kapur No. 40 X, Br. Batu Kandik, Padangsambian Kaja Village, West Denpasar District, Denpasar, on Saturday (April 18, 2026) at around 6:00 p.m. local time.

The blaze completely destroyed the warehouse containing raw timber and finished furniture, along with a workers’ dormitory consisting of 19 rooms. No fatalities were reported, but one employee sustained burn injuries and required medical treatment.

The business owner, Haikal Brahma (36), was immediately informed by employees after the fire was first spotted in the rear section of the warehouse.

According to eyewitness Ahmad Fauzi (26), the fire was first noticed at approximately 6:00 p.m. while he was sitting in front of a coworker’s room. He saw large flames emerging from the welding area at the back.

“I immediately contacted the owner and reported the fire, then asked for the fire department to be called. I also went directly to the fire station to report it,” he said.

Initial firefighting efforts were carried out by workers using water hoses and portable fire extinguishers, but the flames spread rapidly and became uncontrollable. Amid the emergency, Fauzi managed to save one Yamaha Vixion motorcycle belonging to an employee, while other vehicles could not be rescued.

Another witness, Fadlil Kirom (38), said that by the time he exited his dorm room, the fire had already grown significantly, engulfing stacks of wood and furniture in the rear warehouse.

“We tried to extinguish the fire using fire extinguishers, but it didn’t work. The flames spread very quickly,” he stated.

He added that the workers’ dormitory was also affected, leaving personal belongings inside the rooms unsalvageable.

Meanwhile, Devi Putri (30) noted that no production activities were taking place at the time of the incident, as operations typically run from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

“At the time of the fire, activities had already stopped. The materials that burned were raw wood and furniture stored in the warehouse. The condition of the production machines has not yet been checked,” she explained.

A total of 10 fire engines from the Denpasar Fire Department were deployed to the scene to contain and extinguish the blaze.

As a result of the incident, an employee identified as Rudi Setyawan (31) suffered approximately 9 percent burns on his right and left arms, right wrist, fingers, and left cheek. He was evacuated by an ambulance from the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Denpasar to RSUD Wangaya for medical treatment.

Authorities are still investigating the exact cause of the fire. Meanwhile, the total material losses have yet to be determined.
