Kitchen Noise Triggers Assault, Italian National Reported to Police in Denpasar

BALINEWSID.COM, DENPASAR — A viral video circulating on social media showing a violent dispute between neighbors in Denpasar, Bali, has brought to light an alleged assault case now being handled by the police.

The incident occurred on Wednesday (April 8) at around 8:00 a.m. local time in the Jalan Gunung Soputan area, Gang Ulun Suwi, Pemecutan Kelod, West Denpasar.

The victim and complainant, identified as Kadek R (29), an Indonesian national, reported the case to authorities. The alleged perpetrator, identified by initials JF (41), is an Italian national residing in a guest house in the same area.

According to initial reports, the altercation began when the victim’s wife was cooking in the kitchen. The noise from the activity allegedly disturbed the suspect, triggering his anger.

An argument then broke out between the victim’s wife and the suspect. Hearing the commotion, the victim, who had been resting, came out to intervene. However, the situation escalated.

The suspect allegedly slapped the victim once on the left cheek, causing pain to his face.

Following the incident, the victim filed a report with Denpasar Police for further legal action.

The Public Relations Officer of Denpasar Police confirmed that the report has been received and is currently under investigation by the Criminal Investigation Unit. The victim has also undergone a medical examination (visum et repertum) at Bhayangkara Hospital.

“Officers have processed the crime scene and questioned the complainant as well as witnesses. The reported individual has also been questioned by investigators,” the officer stated.

The case is being investigated under Article 466 of the Indonesian Criminal Code concerning assault.

Meanwhile, the widely circulated video shows a heated argument that escalated into violence and property damage. The incident has sparked public reactions and highlighted the potential for conflict in densely populated residential areas with diverse communities.

The investigation remains ongoing as authorities seek to determine the full motive and chronology of the incident.
