BALINEWSID.COM, BADUNG – The Denpasar Immigration Detention Center (Rudenim Denpasar) deported an Italian national identified by the initials JF, 41, to Rome on Friday night (July 24), following the completion of legal proceedings over an assault case and a serious immigration violation.

JF was deported after being found guilty of lightly assaulting a local resident and overstaying his immigration permit in Indonesia for 1,154 days, or approximately three years and one month.

Head of the Denpasar Immigration Detention Center Teguh Mentalyadi said the assault incident was recorded on video and went viral on social media in April 2026.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at around 8 a.m. local time on Jalan Gunung Soputan, Pemecutan Kelod Village, Denpasar.

The incident began when the victim, an Indonesian national identified as KR, 29, woke up and heard an argument between his wife and JF, who lived next door. JF reportedly became annoyed by the sound of the victim’s wife cooking.

When KR attempted to intervene and calm the situation, JF allegedly became angry and slapped the left side of the victim’s face. KR subsequently reported the incident to the Denpasar City Police.

JF was later prosecuted and found legally and convincingly guilty of minor assault under Article 471 paragraph (1) of the Indonesian Criminal Code (KUHP).

Based on a Denpasar District Court ruling dated April 17, 2026, JF was sentenced to three months of probation. As a foreign national who had also committed a serious immigration violation, he served the probation period at the Denpasar Immigration Detention Center under the supervision of the Denpasar Class I Probation Office (Bapas).

“JF completed the three-month probation period under the supervision of Bapas Denpasar on July 17, 2026, and we deported him in accordance with Article 75 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 78 paragraph (3) of Law No. 6 of 2011 on Immigration,” Teguh said.

In addition to the criminal offense, JF was found to have committed a serious immigration violation after overstaying his permit for 1,154 days.

Following his deportation to Rome, JF has also been proposed for inclusion on Indonesia’s immigration blacklist to prevent him from re-entering the country.

Teguh said that under Article 102 of Law No. 6 of 2011 on Immigration, a foreign national may be barred from entering Indonesia for up to 10 years, or even for life, if deemed to pose a serious threat to public security and order.

“The final decision regarding the duration of the entry ban will be determined by the Directorate General of Immigration after considering all aspects of the case,” Teguh said.
