BALINEWSID.COM, BULELENG — A victim of the flash flood that struck Bakti Seraga Village in Buleleng Regency, Bali, was found dead by a joint search and rescue (SAR) team on Friday afternoon.
The victim, identified as Ricardo Razaq Alghivieri, 20, was discovered beneath the rubble of a collapsed house after hours of intensive search efforts in the flood-affected area.
Buleleng SAR Post Coordinator Kadek Donny Indrawan said search operations were initially divided into several sectors around the disaster site. Teams conducted sweeps in affected neighborhoods while another Search and Rescue Unit (SRU) traced the river flow downstream to the coast of Pengambengan Beach.
“We divided the teams for the initial search and sweeping operations around the incident location,” Donny said at the scene.
At approximately 4:15 p.m. local time, the SAR team received information that the victim had been located under the debris of a destroyed house.
“We received information that the target had been found beneath the rubble of a house. We then carried out a manual evacuation,” Donny explained.
The evacuation process continued until 5:12 p.m. due to the unstable condition of the damaged structure. Rescuers carefully removed debris to safely recover the victim’s body.
After being successfully evacuated, Ricardo’s body was transported to Buleleng Regional General Hospital (RSUD Buleleng) using an ambulance provided by the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) Buleleng.
