BALINEWSID.COM, JAKARTA — Indonesia’s Criminal Investigation Department (Bareskrim) has arrested and brought back to Indonesia a suspect identified by the initials FP, who had been placed on the wanted list in connection with an online gambling case involving several international gambling websites.

FP was arrested in Thailand through cooperation between the Cybercrime Directorate of Bareskrim, the International Relations Division of the Indonesian National Police (Polri), the Royal Thai Police, and Thai Immigration authorities. He was subsequently brought back to Indonesia to face legal proceedings.

Deputy Director of the Cybercrime Directorate at Bareskrim, Senior Commissioner Setyo Koes Heriyanto, said FP’s arrest was the result of coordination and cooperation with Thai authorities.

“Tonight, the Cybercrime Directorate of Bareskrim, together with SET NCB Interpol and with the assistance of Immigration, arrested the suspect FP,” Setyo said in Jakarta on Friday (Sept. 25, 2026).

Setyo said FP was a suspect in an online gambling case involving the websites Empire88, 1XBET and AJ8KEREN. The three websites offered various forms of online gambling, including slot games, casino games and sports betting.

According to the investigation, the flow of funds linked to gambling activities on the three websites reached approximately Rp1 trillion (US$62 million) between January and April 2026.

As part of the investigation, cybercrime investigators previously arrested five suspects on July 13 and July 21, 2026. Investigators said several of those suspects admitted to providing companies and bank accounts allegedly used to receive and process transactions related to the online gambling websites.

“Based on the investigation, we obtained information from several suspects we had arrested regarding the provision of companies and bank accounts used to receive transactions on the online gambling websites,” Setyo said.

Investigators subsequently placed FP on the wanted list on July 29, 2026, after determining that he had left Indonesia and was staying abroad.

Authorities continued searching for FP through international law enforcement cooperation. On Sept. 10, 2026, the Cybercrime Directorate coordinated with the Indonesian Police Attaché in Singapore after receiving information that FP was no longer in Singapore.

“Based on the information we received, he was no longer in Singapore and was subsequently found to have moved to Thailand,” Setyo said.

Coordination was then expanded to Thai authorities. On Sept. 22, 2026, at around 5:30 p.m. Thailand time, investigators from the Cybercrime Directorate, together with the Indonesian Police International Relations Division, the Royal Thai Police and Thai Immigration, carried out the arrest of FP.

“The suspect had also fled abroad, and through our cooperation with the Thai authorities, we were able to arrest him and bring him back to Indonesia,” Setyo said.

FP is now in Indonesia and will undergo legal proceedings over his alleged involvement in the online gambling case.

Investigators are continuing to examine the case, including FP’s alleged role and his possible links to other parties involved in the case.

“We will explain the suspect’s role in the official release later, including his cooperation and his flight,” Setyo said.
