BALINEWSID.COM, DENPASAR — The Denpasar City National Narcotics Agency (BNN) is encouraging Sanur Kauh Village in South Denpasar to become a Drug-Free Village, or Desa Bersinar, in 2026 as part of efforts to strengthen drug prevention and control at the community level.

The initiative was discussed during a coordination meeting on the Desa Bersinar program held at the Sanur Kauh Village Office on Thursday (Sept. 24, 2026).

The meeting was opened and led by Head of the Denpasar City BNN, Police Commissioner Dr. Leo Dedy Defretes, S.H., S.I.K., M.H. In his presentation, Defretes explained that Desa Bersinar is a village-level area that meets specific criteria and implements comprehensive programs to prevent drug abuse and combat illicit drug trafficking, known as the P4GN program.

The program aims to create a safe and orderly environment while strengthening communities against the threat of drug abuse.

The coordination meeting was part of efforts to strengthen cooperation between the Denpasar City BNN, the Sanur Kauh Village Government and community representatives in preparing the village to be designated as a Desa Bersinar in 2026.

The Sanur Kauh Village Government had previously expressed its commitment to supporting the establishment of the village as a Desa Bersinar.

During the meeting, the BNN outlined several stages that need to be completed before the program can be implemented. These include building coordination and cooperation among stakeholders, selecting and officially designating the village, establishing a working group, preparing funding, developing programs and ultimately launching the Desa Bersinar initiative.

The BNN emphasized that the success of the program requires active involvement from various elements of the village, including local government and the community.

Through continued coordination and collaboration, the Denpasar City BNN and the Sanur Kauh Village Government are committed to strengthening community participation in drug prevention and control efforts and creating a safer environment free from drug abuse.

The Desa Bersinar program is intended to be more than simply an official designation. It is envisioned as a collective community movement to build a healthy, safe and drug-free village.
