BALINEWSID.COM, DENPASAR – A criminal case involving a foreign tourist has surfaced again in Bali, following a recent murder of a Dutch national in Badung. The latest incident involves the alleged rape of a 22-year-old Chinese tourist identified as Ruoxin Fu in the Pecatu area, South Kuta.
Head of Public Relations of Bali Police, Senior Commissioner Ariasandy, confirmed the case when contacted. He stated that the incident occurred within the jurisdiction of South Kuta Police, specifically around Pecatu. The case has been officially reported under police report number LP/B/264/III/2026/SPKT/POLDA BALI dated March 24, 2026, regarding alleged rape, sexual assault, and theft as stipulated in Article 473 of Law No. 1 of 2023 on the Criminal Code.
“The case is currently under investigation. Officers are still gathering information, and we are relying on the initial report chronology. There is no further information at this stage,” Ariasandy said on Wednesday (March 25, 2026).
According to the initial report, the victim, who was staying at Wingsu Guest House in Canggu, had gone out with a female friend from Kazakhstan, identified as Aika, to a bar on Jalan Labuansait, Pecatu. They reportedly consumed alcohol at the venue before Aika returned earlier due to fatigue at around 04:00 WITA. Shortly afterward, the victim also left the bar alone.
The victim later reported that she suddenly found herself on a motorcycle driven by an unknown man wearing a dark blue shirt. She realized that the direction of travel was not toward her accommodation. The suspect eventually stopped the vehicle in a quiet roadside area surrounded by trees and grass.
When the victim questioned the stop, the suspect allegedly responded, “Let’s have fun here.” Despite the victim’s refusal, the suspect forced her off the motorcycle, grabbed her, and dragged her into a grassy area across the road. The victim attempted to resist but was overpowered.
At the location, the suspect allegedly continued to pressure the victim, who repeatedly refused. Despite her resistance and pleas, the suspect forced himself on her, and the rape occurred. The victim reportedly cried during the assault.
After the incident, the suspect asked to borrow the victim’s phone under the pretense of using navigation to take her back to her accommodation in Canggu. The victim handed over her purple iPhone 14. The suspect then drove her to the guest house, arriving at around 06:00 WITA.
Upon arrival, the suspect allegedly invited the victim to go to a hotel with him, which she refused. She gave him Rp150,000 in cash and went inside. Moments later, she realized her phone was still with the suspect. When she returned outside, the suspect had fled the scene.
Police stated that the victim is currently in shock and trauma, although she did not suffer physical injuries, as no physical or verbal violence was reported during the incident.
Meanwhile, Bali Governor Wayan Koster emphasized that the island remains safe for tourists despite the recent incidents. He described the case as isolated and stated that coordination with Bali Police has been carried out.
“I have coordinated with the Police Chief, and everything has been handled properly,” Koster said.
