The case is being handled under Police Report Number LP/B/264/III/2026/SPKT/Polda Bali dated March 24, 2026, along with an investigation warrant issued on the same day.

The incident occurred on Monday, March 23, 2026, at around 5:00 a.m. local time at Jalan Merak Dua, Unggasan Village, South Kuta, and in front of Wingsu Guest House on Jalan Pantai Berawa No.33, Tibubeneng, North Kuta, Badung.

The victim, identified as Ruoxin Fu (22), a Chinese national, was staying at Wingsu Guest House. She reported experiencing sexual violence and the loss of a purple iPhone 14.

According to the police, the victim had left a bar at approximately 4:30 a.m. while under the influence of alcohol. She then got on a motorcycle driven by a man she believed to be a ride-hailing driver. However, instead of taking her back to her accommodation, the suspect allegedly brought her to a secluded area surrounded by trees and bushes.

At that location, the suspect allegedly forced the victim to engage in sexual intercourse despite her resistance. After the assault, the suspect took the victim’s phone under the pretense of using it for navigation, before eventually returning her to the guest house and fleeing with the device.

The victim suffered trauma and material loss before reporting the incident to the Bali Police.

Through investigation, officers identified the suspect based on witness statements and CCTV footage from several locations, including Wingsu Guest House and Pura Puseh Banjar Tegal Gundul. The suspect was seen riding a black Honda Beat motorcycle and wearing dark clothing with a white cap.

Police later conducted a search operation along Jalan Raya Berawa and apprehended a suspicious man at around 5:00 p.m. on the same day. Upon inspection, officers found the victim’s phone hidden under the seat of the suspect’s motorcycle.

The suspect, identified by the initials SAM (23), a man from Kauniki, has been named as a suspect. During questioning, he admitted to committing the sexual assault and taking the victim’s phone.

Police also secured several pieces of evidence, including the motorcycle, clothing, CCTV recordings, and personal belongings belonging to both the victim and the suspect.

The suspect has been charged under Article 6(a) of Law No. 12 of 2022 on Sexual Violence Crimes, as well as Article 473(1) and Article 479(2) of the Criminal Code, carrying a maximum sentence of up to 12 years in prison, or more if the crime results in serious injury or death.

He is currently being detained at the Bali Police detention center for 20 days from March 25 to April 13, 2026. Investigators are continuing to examine witnesses and experts while preparing the case file for prosecution.

Bali Police reaffirmed their commitment to taking firm action against criminal offenses, particularly those targeting foreign tourists, in order to maintain security and the island’s reputation as an international destination.
