Ngurah Rai Immigration Expands Authority to Cover All of Badung Regency

BALINEWSID.COM, BADUNG — The Ngurah Rai Class I Special Immigration Office for Immigration Checkpoints (TPI) has expanded its jurisdiction to cover the entire Badung Regency, following a decision by the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections, September 18, 2026.

The expansion is stipulated in Ministerial Decree No. M.IP-30.OT.01.03 of 2026. Previously, the office’s jurisdiction covered only three subdistricts: Kuta, North Kuta, and South Kuta.

Under the new arrangement, its jurisdiction now includes Mengwi, Abiansemal, and Petang, which were previously under the authority of the Denpasar Class I Immigration Office for Immigration Checkpoints (TPI).

The change is part of an organizational restructuring aimed at strengthening the implementation of immigration functions within the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections.

With the expanded jurisdiction, Ngurah Rai Immigration is now responsible for immigration services, supervision, and enforcement involving foreign nationals across Badung Regency.

Expanded Residence Permit Services for Foreign Nationals

The jurisdictional change also expands the coverage of immigration residence permit services for foreign nationals in Mengwi, Abiansemal, and Petang.

In addition to providing services, Ngurah Rai Immigration will strengthen immigration supervision and enforcement throughout Badung, including responding to public complaints concerning the presence and activities of foreign nationals.

The office will enhance coordination and cooperation with the Badung Regency Government, law enforcement agencies, subdistrict administrations, village authorities, and other relevant institutions.

Ngurah Rai Immigration Chief Muhamad Novyandri said the expansion of the office’s jurisdiction must be accompanied by improvements in service quality and immigration supervision.

“With the expansion of our jurisdiction to cover the entire Badung Regency, the responsibilities of Ngurah Rai Immigration have also increased. We will ensure that immigration services, particularly residence permit services for foreign nationals, are delivered optimally while strengthening immigration supervision and enforcement throughout our jurisdiction,” Novyandri said.

Passport Services Remain Unrestricted by Domicile

Meanwhile, the jurisdictional change does not affect the regulations governing Indonesian passport services.

Indonesian citizens may continue to apply for passports at any immigration office across Indonesia without being restricted by domicile requirements.

The expansion is expected to bring immigration services closer to the public while strengthening the implementation of immigration functions to support a safe, orderly, and conducive environment throughout Badung Regency.
