BALINEWSID.COM, BADUNG — An Australian national identified by the initials B.A. has been deported from Bali and banned from entering Indonesia for 10 years following his alleged involvement in an indecent act that went viral on social media.

The incident allegedly occurred in a residential area on Jalan Pantai Berawa, Tibubeneng Village, North Kuta District, Badung Regency, on Saturday, August 22, 2026.

Based on coordination between authorities and facial identification using CCTV footage, B.A., an Australian man born in 1998, was identified as one of the alleged individuals involved in the incident.

At the time, B.A. was holding a valid Visa on Arrival (VoA).

He was apprehended by immigration officers at the Immigration Checkpoint (TPI) of I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, as he was preparing to depart for Brisbane, Australia.

The Intelligence and Immigration Enforcement Team (Inteldakim) of the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office subsequently took B.A. into custody before handing him over to the Badung Police for further legal proceedings.

Following its investigation, the Badung Police recommended that B.A. be deported and returned him to the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office on Wednesday, August 26, 2026.

B.A. was eventually deported from Bali on Tuesday night, September 8, 2026, on a Batik Air flight from Denpasar to Brisbane.

Head of the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office Muhamad Novyandri said the deportation was the result of close coordination between immigration authorities and the police to maintain public order and security involving foreign nationals in Bali.

“This step demonstrates the commitment of the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office to maintaining order and security in activities involving foreign nationals in Bali. We will continue to strengthen immigration supervision, maintain close coordination with law enforcement agencies, and take firm action if violations of immigration regulations are found in the future,” Novyandri said.

He added that the measure was also in line with the direction of Director General of Immigration Hendarsam Marantoko, who has emphasized the principle of “Immigration for the People.”

According to Novyandri, the principle is reflected in the implementation of immigration functions that are professional, humane, and firm in enforcing the law.

He said supervision of the presence and activities of foreign nationals was part of the government’s efforts to safeguard national sovereignty while ensuring a sense of security and providing tangible benefits to the community.

Following the deportation, B.A. has also been placed on Indonesia’s immigration blacklist for 10 years and will not be permitted to re-enter the country during the period of the ban.
