Man Found Dead at Indomaret Warehouse in Badung in Suspected Suicide

BALINEWSID.CIM, BADUNG — A 26-year-old man identified by his initials Y.R. was found hanging inside the warehouse of an Indomaret store on street Buduk No. 26, Buduk Village, Mengwi District, Badung, Bali, on Wednesday morning, August 26, 2026.

Police received a report through the 110 emergency service at around 6:14 a.m. local time. An UKL team led by First Inspector Gede Suyasa, accompanied by the Buduk village Bhabinkamtibmas officer, subsequently went to the scene.

According to witnesses, Y.R. had worked at the store’s Point Coffee section for approximately two months. Before the incident, he was reportedly seen appearing anxious on several occasions while at work.

One witness told police that Y.R. had previously mentioned having problems with online loan debts. On Tuesday, August 25, he reportedly made a Rp4.5 million top-up transaction at the Indomaret, which he said was intended to repay his online loan debt.

Y.R. was still at the location on Tuesday night and was given food by a witness at around midnight.

At approximately 5:20 a.m. Wednesday, a witness went to the rear section of the warehouse to retrieve goods. Inside the warehouse, the witness found Y.R. hanging from a storage rack.

Police secured the scene and installed a police line. The Badung Police Identification Unit then conducted an initial examination of the location.

The preliminary examination found that Y.R. was approximately 170 centimeters tall, while the hanging point was about 195 centimeters above the floor. Police said the device used was the victim’s belt, with a loop measuring approximately 25 centimeters in diameter.

A ligature mark was found around the victim’s neck, believed to have been caused by the belt. Investigators initially found no other signs of violence on the body. Fluid was also observed coming from the victim’s mouth.

Authorities have yet to determine the motive behind the suspected suicide. Police are continuing to investigate, including information regarding the victim’s alleged online loan debts that he had previously mentioned to witnesses.

The investigation remains ongoing.
