During a press conference, authorities revealed that all suspects are male. Two of them are repeat offenders, identified as VM (Vicky Monaro), previously involved in a narcotics case in 2016, and NP (Ngakan Putu Sugiantara), who had a prior case in 2021.
From the operations, police seized significant quantities of various narcotics, including 2,135 ecstasy pills weighing 994.77 grams, 1,299.44 grams of methamphetamine, 1,078.3 grams of marijuana, 285.3 grams of synthetic tobacco, and 33.69 grams of cocaine.
Police stated that the suspects commonly used a “drop system” modus operandi, in which drugs are placed at predetermined locations for collection, minimizing direct contact between parties to evade detection.
The suspects have been charged under Article 111 paragraph (1) of Indonesia’s Law No. 35 of 2009 on Narcotics, as well as Article 609 paragraphs (1) and (2) of Law No. 1 of 2023 on the Criminal Code in conjunction with Law No. 1 of 2026 on sentencing adjustments. They face penalties ranging from 4 to 20 years in prison, life imprisonment, and fines amounting to billions of rupiah.
Police emphasized that the success of this operation was the result of close coordination with Bali Regional Police (Polda Bali) in dismantling ecstasy distribution networks allegedly targeting nightlife venues in Denpasar. Additionally, the exposure of marijuana and cocaine cases involving foreign nationals helped prevent the entry of international drug networks, with indications of shipments originating from Switzerland (marijuana) and Georgia (cocaine) to Bali.
Authorities estimate that the crackdown has saved approximately 30,000 people, particularly young individuals, from the dangers of drug abuse.
Of the 40 cases uncovered, 11 were categorized as major cases involving large quantities of evidence. Among them, two suspects from Banyuwangi, identified as ET and NS, were arrested with 1,100 ecstasy pills and 295.48 grams of methamphetamine. Another suspect, F from Jember, was apprehended with 1,000 ecstasy pills and 14.37 grams of methamphetamine.
In a separate case, suspect YM from Jayapura was found with 593.4 grams of marijuana. Meanwhile, a Belarusian national identified as HS was arrested with 483.5 grams of marijuana and 33.69 grams of cocaine.
Further arrests were made across Denpasar and Badung, involving multiple drug networks and varying quantities of methamphetamine, ecstasy, and synthetic tobacco.
Denpasar Police reaffirmed their commitment to intensifying efforts to combat drug trafficking within their jurisdiction, particularly targeting networks that threaten the younger generation and Bali’s tourism sector.
