BALINEWSID.COM, DENPASAR – The Criminal Investigation Unit (Sat Reskrim) of Denpasar Police has uncovered an alleged sexual assault case that occurred within its jurisdiction. The case was officially recorded under Police Report Number: LP/B/225/III/2026/SPKT/Polresta Denpasar/Polda Bali, dated March 24, 2026.
The incident took place at a nightclub in the Seminyak area, Kuta, Badung Regency, Bali, on Tuesday (March 24, 2026) at approximately 4:00 a.m. local time.
According to the police, the victim, a foreign national ქალი, initially visited the nightclub. After leaving the venue, she realized that some of her belongings had been left behind and returned to retrieve them. She was accompanied by the reported suspect, who worked as a security officer at the establishment.
While inside the women’s restroom, the suspect allegedly committed acts of sexual violence against the victim, which escalated to sexual intercourse.
Following the report, Denpasar Police moved swiftly and arrested the suspect, identified by his initials A.B.M (29), on Thursday (March 26, 2026) in West Denpasar.
Based on initial investigations, including statements from the suspect, the victim, and several witnesses, police found indications that the alleged assault occurred inside the women’s restroom at the venue. The suspect has reportedly admitted to having sexual intercourse with the victim at the location.
Investigators have preliminarily charged the suspect under Article 6(a) of Law No. 12 of 2022 on Sexual Violence Crimes, which regulates physical sexual acts targeting a person’s body or reproductive organs with the intent to degrade dignity based on sexuality and/or morality.
The suspect faces a maximum sentence of four years in prison and/or a fine of up to Rp200 million. Police are also exploring the possibility of applying more severe charges, including provisions under Law No. 1 of 2023 on the Criminal Code related to rape, if sufficient legal elements are established.
At present, investigators are continuing to examine witnesses, conduct a comprehensive assessment of the foreign victim’s testimony, and strengthen evidence, including obtaining a medical examination (visum et repertum). Authorities are also coordinating with prosecutors and medical teams to ensure the completeness of the legal process.
