BALINEWSID.COM, JAKARTA — Indonesian police deployed 2,373 officers to secure two FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026 matches held at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK) in Central Jakarta on Monday.

The matches featured Singapore against Bangladesh and Indonesia against Malaysia. Security operations were carried out under Operation Garuda Bakti 2026 to ensure the matches proceeded safely and orderly.

Jakarta Metropolitan Police Public Relations Chief Commissioner Budi Hermanto said security measures covered the teams’ and officials’ accommodation areas as well as the stadium complex.

Officers were stationed at strategic points, including routes used by team delegations traveling to the stadium, entrance gates, the match area and VIP and VVIP sections.

“Personnel have also been prepared to manage traffic, conduct security sweeps, carry out entrance checks, and patrol and monitor areas around the GBK complex,” Budi said.

Budi said all officers assigned to the operation had been instructed to carry out their duties professionally and in accordance with established procedures, while maintaining a firm and measured approach and prioritizing safety.

Police are also emphasizing a human-centered approach in managing security during the matches.

“We are prioritizing a professional and human-centered approach. Officers have also been instructed to avoid the use of violence, firearms or tear gas in crowd control, except under specific circumstances and in accordance with procedures,” he said.

In addition to security inside and around the stadium, police are coordinating with event organizers and other relevant authorities throughout the operation.

Security checks at each entrance are part of the measures being implemented to help maintain safety for spectators and everyone involved in the matches.

Police said they expect the FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026 matches at the stadium to take place safely and orderly, allowing spectators to enjoy the games in a comfortable environment.
