BALINEWSID.COM, DENPASAR — The Denpasar Class I Immigration Office deported a 39-year-old Russian national, identified by the initials RT, after he was found to have overstayed his immigration permit in Indonesia for 820 days.

RT was deported through the Immigration Checkpoint at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali on Tuesday, September 22, 2026. He was flown out of Indonesia on an AirAsia flight.

The Denpasar Immigration Office said the deportation followed an examination of RT’s immigration status, which found that his residence permit had expired. Despite the expiration of his permit, he remained in Indonesia beyond the authorized period.

The violation resulted in administrative immigration enforcement by the Denpasar Immigration Office. The deportation process was handled by the office’s Intelligence and Immigration Enforcement Division until RT left Indonesian territory.

The action was taken under Article 78 paragraph (3) of Law No. 6 of 2011 on Immigration. The provision states that foreign nationals whose residence permits have expired and who remain in Indonesia for more than 60 days beyond the authorized period may be subject to administrative immigration measures, including deportation and a ban on re-entry.

Denpasar Immigration Office Head R. Haryo Sakti said all foreign nationals staying in Indonesia are required to comply with immigration regulations, including monitoring the validity of their residence permits.

“Every foreign national staying in Indonesia must comply with immigration regulations, including paying attention to the validity of their residence permit. If a violation is found, Immigration will take action in accordance with the authority granted by law,” Haryo said.

He added that immigration enforcement was part of the agency’s efforts to maintain immigration order and provide legal certainty for the public.

Following RT’s departure from Indonesia, the Denpasar Immigration Office also proposed that he be placed on the immigration blacklist in accordance with applicable regulations.

Bali Immigration Strengthens Oversight

Separately, Head of the Bali Regional Office of the Directorate General of Immigration, Ramdhani, said immigration law enforcement was an important part of maintaining security and order in Bali.

“Every foreign national who commits a violation will be handled in accordance with the applicable regulations. We continue to encourage Immigration personnel to conduct supervision optimally, professionally and humanely as part of Immigration’s commitment to the public,” Ramdhani said.

Bali Immigration continues to strengthen monitoring of foreign nationals, including their compliance with the validity of residence permits. Administrative measures are taken when violations are identified in accordance with Indonesian immigration laws and regulations.
