BALINEWSID.COM, JAKARTA – The 2026 Coordination Meeting of the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections (Kemenimipas) has produced a number of instruments aimed at strengthening public service governance in the immigration and corrections sectors.

In the immigration sector, the meeting resulted in the formulation of 33 government administration standard operating procedures (SOPs) and two circular letters. The instruments cover immigration checkpoints, residence permits and immigration status, as well as travel documents.

Meanwhile, in the corrections sector, the meeting produced three draft documents aimed at strengthening service time standards and the governance of community research (penelitian kemasyarakatan or litmas).

The outcomes were formally endorsed during the closing of the 2026 Kemenimipas Coordination Meeting by Minister of Immigration and Corrections Agus Andrianto in Jakarta on Wednesday, September 23, 2026.

Held from September 20 to 23, the coordination meeting carried the theme “From Evaluation to Action: Realizing a Quality and Integrity-Driven Kemenimipas.” The meeting was attended by senior officials from the ministry’s central units, heads of regional offices, heads of administrative and general affairs divisions, as well as heads of immigration and corrections technical implementation units from across Indonesia.

Minister Agus said the coordination meeting had a strategic role in aligning targets and action plans with the ministry’s strategic objectives, communicating leadership priorities, strengthening accountability, and promoting synergy among units.

“The strategic purpose of this coordination meeting is to align targets and action plans with our strategic objectives, communicate the leadership’s direction, reaffirm our commitment to accountability, and strengthen synergy among units to achieve the ministry’s targets that we have jointly established,” Agus said.

During the closing session, Agus also stressed the importance of risk management at every work unit to prevent violations that could have an impact on the institution.

“Do not wait for a problem to become a finding before taking corrective action. Every unit must be able to identify and manage risks from the outset,” he said.

Agus also urged Kemenimipas personnel to prevent illegal levies, gratuities, abuse of authority, data manipulation and other practices that could undermine institutional integrity and public trust.

He emphasized that violations committed by an individual could affect the public perception and assessment of the institution as a whole.

In the corrections sector, the three draft documents produced during the meeting will serve as follow-up instruments for implementing service time standards and strengthening the governance of community research.

Ida Asep Somara, Chair of the Coordination Meeting Committee and Senior Advisor to the Minister for Bureaucratic Reform Strengthening, said the meeting’s outcomes must be followed up and implemented across individual work units.

“The completion of this coordination meeting is not the end of our journey. Rather, this is where the follow-up begins,” Ida said.

She stressed that the results of the four-day meeting must be monitored and implemented so that they do not remain merely as formulated policies, but are translated into concrete actions across Kemenimipas work units.

With the conclusion of the 2026 Coordination Meeting, Kemenimipas reaffirmed its commitment to improving public service governance and strengthening organizational performance and service quality across both the immigration and corrections sectors.
