Immigration Bars Former Special Crimes Prosecutor Febrie Adriansyah from Leaving Indonesia

BALINEWSID.COM, JAKARTA – Indonesia’s Directorate General of Immigration has imposed an overseas travel ban on former Attorney General’s Office Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) Febrie Adriansyah and private individual Don Ritto following a request from the Jakarta Metropolitan Police.

Director General of Immigration Hendarsam Marantoko announced on Sunday (July 12, 2026) that the agency had enforced a travel restriction against two individuals identified by their initials, FA, a state civil servant, and DR, a private citizen.

According to Hendarsam, the measure was taken in response to a request from the Jakarta Metropolitan Police’s Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation (Ditreskrimsus), as stated in Letter No. B/12730/VII/RES/.3.3/2026/Direskrimsus dated July 11, 2026.

“The action was carried out based on a request from the Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police,” Hendarsam said in a written statement.

He explained that the travel ban will remain in effect for 20 days in accordance with prevailing laws and regulations.

“The Directorate General of Immigration is committed to supporting law enforcement by implementing every travel-ban request submitted by law enforcement authorities in accordance with applicable legislation,” he said.

Meanwhile, Acting Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Plt Jampidsus) Rudi Margono confirmed that Febrie Adriansyah had been named a suspect by the National Police’s Anti-Corruption Corps (Kortas Tipikor). However, he said no detention has been carried out so far.

“The information is that he has been named a suspect by the Anti-Corruption Corps. There has been no detention yet,” Rudi told reporters at the Attorney General’s Office in South Jakarta on Saturday (July 11, 2026).

Rudi said Attorney General ST Burhanuddin had instructed him to handle all cases professionally, including the three corruption cases involving Febrie Adriansyah, while upholding the presumption of innocence.

He also confirmed that Febrie had submitted his resignation, but the administrative process is still awaiting formal approval through a Presidential Decree signed by President Prabowo Subianto.

Rudi added that the Attorney General’s Office would coordinate closely with the National Police’s Anti-Corruption Corps after the transfer of the cases. Prosecutors will review the evidence and conduct a joint case evaluation to ensure a professional and transparent legal process.

The three cases transferred involve alleged corruption and money laundering linked to coal trading, the state-owned insurance company ASABRI, and Krakatau Steel.

As part of the ongoing investigation, police have searched a money changer, Cafe de’Clan Signature in Cipete, South Jakarta, and a residence in Bogor, West Java. Investigators seized several pieces of evidence, including gold bars and foreign currencies worth billions of rupiah.
