Agung Restaurant in Nusa Dua Destroyed by Fire, Losses Estimated at Rp5 Billion

BALINEWSID.COM, BADUNG – A massive fire engulfed Agung Restaurant located within the Club Med Hotel area in the Nusa Dua Tourism Zone, South Kuta, Badung, on Friday morning (April 24, 2026). The blaze destroyed the two-story building along with several facilities inside, with total losses estimated at more than Rp5 billion.

Authorities received the incident report at around 7:40 a.m. local time. The fire was first detected at approximately 6:50 a.m. while breakfast preparations were underway in the restaurant’s kitchen area.

According to security officer Komang Adi Sugita, the incident came to light after a fire alarm was observed from the monitoring post. When he and the security team checked the location, the flames had already intensified, consuming the kitchen and part of the restaurant.

The hotel management immediately contacted the receptionist to relay the report to firefighters. Shortly afterward, the ITDC fire brigade arrived at the scene and began extinguishing efforts.

Similar statements were given by Agung Restaurant Supervisor Imam Hambali and several kitchen staff members. They said the fire was suspected to have originated from a deep fryer machine after the oil became excessively hot.

Staff initially attempted to contain the blaze using portable fire extinguishers. However, the flames spread rapidly to the ceiling, which was largely made of wood, as well as the shingle roof, making the fire difficult to control.

A total of eight fire engines were deployed to the scene, including six units from the Badung Fire Department and two units from the ITDC fire brigade. After intensive firefighting efforts, authorities eventually managed to bring the blaze under control.

The fire caused severe damage to the two-story building, which covers approximately 5,000 square meters. In addition to Agung Restaurant on the second floor, several first-floor facilities were also affected, including a boutique, photo booth, meeting room, and accounting office.

Fortunately, no casualties were reported in the incident. However, material losses are estimated to exceed Rp5 billion.

South Kuta Police Chief AKP Muhammad Bhayangkara Putra Sejati said police had taken a series of measures, including receiving the report, visiting the crime scene, questioning witnesses, and conducting further investigations to determine the exact cause of the fire.

“As of now, the situation at the location is safe and under control after the fire was successfully extinguished,” he said.
