Unidentified Man Found Dead on Gau Beach Rocks in South Kuta, Body Discovered Blue and Half-Clothed

BALINEWSID.COM, DENPASAR — The discovery of an unidentified male body shocked residents in the Gau Beach area of South Kuta, Badung Regency, on Sunday afternoon (April 19, 2026). The victim, referred to as Mr. X, was found on rocky shoreline in a disturbing condition, with his body already bluish and partially unclothed.

The incident occurred at approximately 3:00 p.m. local time at coordinates -8.84765272 latitude and 115.13508703 longitude. At the time of discovery, the man was wearing only blue underwear. His body was found lying face down on the rocks, with both hands folded in front of his chest.

The body was first discovered by a witness, Ketut Sumiasa (55), who had come to the area to fish using nets. Upon arriving at the shoreline, he noticed what appeared to be a human figure lying on the rocks. Driven by curiosity, he approached and confirmed it was indeed a man’s body.

Observing the bluish discoloration, the witness believed the victim had already died. Frightened, he immediately ran to seek help and encountered his relative, Wayan Sukarta (53). The two then reported the incident to authorities. While Sukarta contacted for assistance, Sumiasa returned to the scene to guard the body from being swept away by the rising tide.

Shortly after, personnel from the Denpasar Water and Air Police (Satpolairud), South Kuta Police, and local security units arrived at the scene. Officers had to descend a steep cliff to reach the location where the body was found.

An initial examination at the scene confirmed the victim was deceased, indicated by the absence of response and visible post-mortem lividity.

As of now, the identity of the victim remains unknown. The body has been placed in the hospital morgue pending further identification procedures by authorities.

Police are planning to request a visum et repertum (VER) to determine the exact cause of death. Coordination with hospital officials is ongoing to obtain preliminary examination results.

Further investigation is underway, including efforts to uncover the victim’s identity and reconstruct the circumstances leading to his death at the location.
