BALINEWSID.COM, BADUNG – The Ngurah Rai Class I Special Immigration Office has apprehended an international fugitive listed on Interpol’s Red Notice upon arrival at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport.
The suspect, a 45-year-old British national identified by the initials SL, was detained on Saturday, March 28, 2026, shortly after landing in Denpasar on a flight from Singapore. Immigration officers at the checkpoint flagged the individual through the integrated immigration system, which identified him as a subject of an active Interpol Red Notice.
According to intelligence data, SL is suspected of being a leader of an international criminal organization. He is believed to have played a key role in orchestrating operations involving shell companies and large-scale money laundering activities.

Head of the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office, Bugie Kurniawan, emphasized that Bali is not a safe haven for international criminals. “We firmly state that Bali will never be a safe hiding place for international fugitives. This arrest demonstrates the sharp instincts and experience of our officers in the field,” he said.
Kurniawan added that the success of the operation was largely due to the integrated immigration system and the officers’ ability to detect individuals listed on Interpol’s wanted database.
Meanwhile, Head of the Bali Regional Office of the Directorate General of Immigration, Felucia Sengky Ratna, praised the swift action taken by Ngurah Rai Immigration officers. She noted that the arrest reflects the effectiveness and responsiveness of Bali’s immigration monitoring system in addressing transnational threats.
“All units will continue to strengthen coordination, enhance vigilance, and optimize the use of technology and international cooperation to ensure Bali remains safe and orderly,” Felucia stated.
Following his arrest in the international arrivals area, SL was handed over to the Ngurah Rai Airport Police for further legal proceedings in accordance with procedures for handling international fugitives.
The arrest underscores the strict and layered security measures in place at Bali’s entry points and highlights Indonesia’s commitment to preventing transnational criminals from entering its territory.
