Bali Land Agency Says IWO Bali’s Beach Clean-Up Must Be Sustained

BALINEWSID.COM, DENPASAR — The Head of the Bali Regional Office of the Badan Pertanahan Nasional (BPN), I Made Daging, expressed his appreciation for the initiative taken by Ikatan Wartawan Online Bali (IWO Bali) in organizing a beach clean-up at Pantai Mertasari, Denpasar, on Sunday (February 15, 2026).

Made Daging said the clean-up action serves as an important momentum to promote better waste management practices among the public.

“A clean-up activity may seem small, but it reminds all of us that cleanliness is extremely important,” he said after participating in the event.

He added that the initiative is also part of a broader effort to introduce and strengthen a culture of environmental awareness. According to him, many people still lack concern regarding proper waste management.

“It starts with ourselves, but everyone must realize that the waste we produce is our responsibility to manage,” said the former Head of the Badung Land Office.

Made Daging expressed hope that similar beach clean-up activities could be carried out on a sustainable basis. He even revealed that he has instructed BPN staff across Bali to take part in similar initiatives in their respective areas.

“Wherever we see that it is needed, wherever it is not yet clean, we should clean it. More importantly, it sends a message to the community,” he added.

Furthermore, he noted that the Bali BPN Regional Office has implemented its own waste management system, including a ban on the use of single-use plastic packaging within its offices.

This step, he explained, is part of the institution’s support for the policy of Bali Governor Wayan Koster regarding the prohibition of single-use plastic packaging.

“If some people say there is no legal basis, that it is merely a circular without sanctions, that is not the point. The essence is to reduce waste,” he emphasized.
