BALINEWSID.COM – The IX/Udayana Military Regional Command (Kodam IX/Udayana) carried out an Integrated Community Service (Karya Bakti Terpadu) activity in the form of a simultaneous marine debris clean-up at Kedonganan Beach and Kuta Beach on Tuesday (February 3, 2026). The activity, themed “Joint Action of the TNI–Polri, Local Government, and Community,” reflects cross-sector synergy in maintaining cleanliness and preserving Bali’s coastal environment.

The activity began with a readiness assembly at Kedonganan Beach, led by the Deputy Chief of Staff of Kodam IX/Udayana, Brig. Gen. TNI Taufiq Hanafi. Meanwhile, the assembly and implementation of the activity at Kuta Beach were led by the Inspector of Kodam IX/Udayana, Brig. Gen. TNI Subagyo W.G.

Approximately 2,500 personnel took part in the action, comprising members of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the National Police (Polri), the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), the Bali Provincial Environmental Agency, students, environmental communities, and local residents. All participants worked together to clean up piles of waste carried ashore by ocean currents that had polluted the beach areas.

In his briefing, Brig. Gen. TNI Taufiq Hanafi encouraged all participants to carry out the activity with enthusiasm and sincerity while prioritizing safety factors. He also emphasized the importance of making the most of favorable weather conditions so the clean-up could be conducted optimally.

“The clean-up of Kedonganan Beach and Kuta Beach is a shared responsibility. A clean and beautiful environment provides comfort for both local communities and tourists. Activities like this need to be carried out continuously to ensure the cleanliness of Bali’s beaches is maintained,” he said.

To support the smooth implementation of the activity, various facilities and equipment were deployed, including excavators, beach cleaner vehicles, garbage trucks, and other supporting equipment. Participants were divided into several work sectors to ensure the clean-up process ran in an orderly and efficient manner.

Meanwhile, the Head of Information for Kodam IX/Udayana, Col. Inf. Widi Rahman, stated that this community service activity represents the TNI’s tangible concern for environmental issues, particularly marine waste that has a wide-ranging impact on ecosystems and tourism.

“This activity reflects the strong synergy between the TNI, Polri, local governments, and the community. Kodam IX/Udayana is committed to continuously supporting environmental care initiatives while encouraging the growth of collective public awareness in maintaining beach cleanliness as one of Bali’s valuable assets and sources of pride,” he emphasized.
