GIANYAR, BNEWSID – The mystery behind the brutal death of an irrigation project foreman in Subak Tenggaling, Pejeng Village, Tampaksiring District, has finally been solved. The victim, identified as I Wayan Sedhana, who was earlier reported missing and later found dead at the project site, was murdered by his own workers.

The three suspects, identified by their initials MA, MF, and SF, were arrested without resistance in the Gumitir area, on the border between Jember and Banyuwangi, on Wednesday (Oct 29, 2025), just two days after the murder.

“The suspects were captured as they attempted to flee to East Java,” said Gianyar Police Chief AKBP Chandra C. Kesuma during a press conference at the Gianyar Police Headquarters on Friday (Oct 31, 2025).

Police investigations revealed a deeply personal motive—revenge and resentment. The suspects reportedly admitted to harboring anger after frequently being scolded and even slapped by the victim during work. That pent-up fury exploded into a violent attack. “The victim was first struck in the head until he fell, then his throat was slashed with a saw,” explained Chief Chandra firmly.

After ensuring the victim was dead, the suspects fled the scene, taking the victim’s Honda Vario motorcycle with them. A cross-regional police pursuit led to their eventual capture at a hideout in East Java. “They will face multiple charges—murder and theft,” Chandra added.

The horrific incident occurred in broad daylight at a deserted project site, with no witnesses around. Police are now investigating whether the murder was a spontaneous act of rage or a premeditated crime. “The main motive was personal revenge, but we’re still exploring the possibility of prior planning,” said Chandra.

Chief Chandra emphasized that the swift resolution of the case demonstrates the police’s vigilance in maintaining public safety. “We will not allow any criminals to threaten peace and order in Gianyar,” he concluded.
